Here are the rules for the site. It looks complicated, but we tried to be as thorough as we could so that there are as few misunderstandings as possible. Questions, comments, or concerns about these rules can be directed to the Question and Answer Department.

REGISTRATION.

1. Please register with a first and last name. Good example; John Doe. Bad example; surferchick12.
2. We neither require nor prohibit registering with the character's middle name; if you want to register as John William Doe, that's fine with us.
3. Do not register with your OWN first name and last name.
4. Name changes will be given to those who do not follow the previous two rules, as well as those who may have made a typo in their name.
5. If you need a name change, please visit this thread.
6. The only characters allowed to register without a last name will be listed in the canon list.

CHARACTER CREATION.

• In order have your character sorted into the appropriate member group, you must fill out the application form.
  
• Fill the form out to the best of your ability before posting it in the 'Character Applications' forum for review. Partially completed applications will be deleted without notice and you will be warned. This means we don't want you to get halfway through an application and post it anyway. Use your control panel if you don't want to lose what you've worked on.
  
• It is necessary for two Illuminati members to approve an application before it will be passed. Only Illuminati members are able to pass applications.
  
• Applications will never be immediately rejected, unless they are incomplete, are posted by an account that does not follow our name rule, or for a character who is already in play.
  
• There is a section dedicated to detailed information about each of the species, and each of their abilities. Find it and use it. Characters who are too powerful for their age group will be required to alter their applications.
  
• You must play as one of our listed species or as a human. You may not create your own species.
  
• We are not currently accepting vampires over the age of 500, or angels. We will be picky about accepting hybrids and slayers.
  
• You are allowed to have more than one character, but each character should have a separate account on the site. If you decide you want another character, that's fine, but you need to register with that character and post their application with that account.
  
• Members interested in acquiring minor characters (characters who have little action and are intended as foil characters) should fill out the 'minor character application' and contact a member of the Illuminati for further information.
  
• We do not have a face claim. Issues with characters sharing a lookalike or wanting to use the same one are to be solved yourselves, and there is a 'first come, first serve' policy. You may not, however, use yourself or your own pictures to represent your character, nor may you use the pictures of friends, family, etc. Actors, models, and musicians are generally okay. If you're unsure of whether your lookalike complies with the rules, PM an admin.

CHARACTERS.

• Minor characters are created under the assumption that the owner will use them in a few instances, for the sake of the RP, and use them infrequently.
  
• Characters should, of course, act in accordance with the information in their application. For example, if we read that your character is a vampire who has refused to drink human blood and is largely a pacifist, we don't want to see it running around, starting fights and gorging themselves on passers by.
  
• Please familiarize yourself with the site plot. There are important details in the plot pertaining to the history of the city and what certain groups would know.
  
• Please, try to be realistic with your characters. It would not make sense for every human character to have an in depth knowledge of the inner workings of the Illuminati; it would not make sense for every vampire to be in love with an angel or a werewolf.

ROLE-PLAYING.

• All posts are to be done in third person, past tense. For example, use; 'He walked down the hall and grinned at himself in the mirror.' Do NOT use; 'I walk down the hall and grin at myself in the mirror'.
  
• Posts should contain a minimum of 50 words.
  
• The overall rating of this site is PG-13. That means we allow mild violence, scenes of mild sexual nature, and mild swearing. Threads that contain more suggestive/violent material should contain a warning in the thread description. Should your thread start with innocent intentions, alert an Admin or Moderator to add the warning to the thread. When in doubt, message a staff member.
  
• God-moding is explicitly forbidden. This is a turn-based online RPG, and thus, you will allow your fellow role-players the opportunity to deny your actions. For example, "Johnny swung his fist in Bobby's general direction, aiming for his nose" should be used rather than "Johnny punched Bobby in the nose". However, if the concerning parties deem that they are fine with a bit of god-moding, that is fine with the site staff.
  
• At the same time, it is obvious that a hungry vampire can very easily overpower a human if they so wish. Participating parties should be aware of the abilities of the other people they are role-playing with.
  
• Pertaining to other abilities, such as mind-reading or allure, it is important to use discretion. For example, if Jason can read minds, he won't be able to recognize who says 'Jason is hot' unless Suzy, with whom he is RPing, specifically thinks, 'Jason is hot'. At the same time, Jason won't be able to pull thoughts out of Suzy that she has not specifically written in the post. He may well hear the thoughts of people around him, but again, he will not be able to name these people. Further information is posted in the Species section.
  
• When starting a thread, you will place either 'open' or 'closed' in the thread description. 'Open' signifies that anyone may join the thread; 'closed' means that the starter of the thread has already arranged for someone to join the thread. Other variations include 'PM to join', 'closed to (person)', etc.

OUT OF CHARACTER.

• There is an Out of Character forum, created specifically for graphics, off-topic discussions, games, and advertising. Do not place OOC content in IC locations.
  
• Inappropriate content in the OOC forums will be deleted immediately and the user will be warned, suspended, or banned depending on the degree of the offense. Inappropriate content, in case you're unclear, is explicit swearing, explicit nudity, harassment of other members, flaming, spam, etc.
  
• There is a specific forum created for advertising your own forum or site. Do not place links to other forums in your signature, profile, or any post outside of this forum. Do not register and send mass PMs to the members of this site advertising your own forum. Any advertising of other boards/sites via Personal Message (PM) is not acceptable in any way, shape or form. Violators will be warned, suspended, banned and/or deleted based on the degree of the offense with or without notice.
  
• Members are not to post explicit information about themselves, their address, their phone number, their photographs, their Myspace, or their Facebook. Violators will be warned, suspended, or banned based on the degree of the offense.
  
• Problems with other users on the board should be dealt with using other mediums of communication. Write an email, send an instant message, send a PM - don't post in a thread stating your hate/intolerance of another user. We do not allow flaming of other members, plain and simple. Users who violate this rule shall be warned, suspended, or banned, with or without notice, depending on the degree of the offense.
  
• If you encounter a problem with a post, the site staff encourage you to use the nifty 'Report' button at the top right hand corner of every post. If you encounter any other sort of problem, the site staff encourage that you send a Personal Message to any member of the staff to quickly handle the problem.

MISCELLANY.

• The site staff has put a lot of work into Dangerous Game and are quite proud of it. We do not look kindly upon those who take content from the site without permission.
  
• The site staff are a friendly, fun-loving bunch. We may seem extremely strict, because of all these rules, but we truly want to protect the core of this site and its many users. We want to enjoy the site as much as anyone else does.
  
• The site staff are 100% human and therefore we do not appreciate disrespect. We have created Dangerous Game for many a reason, but rest assured, we understand that the members of this site are prone to frustration, sadness, anger, etc., due in whole or in part to any (non)specific thing from the site. If you have a concern or a complaint, we politely request that you send an equally polite personal message to a staff member. We want you guys, the members, to be comfortable and at ease here, too.
  
• While we will not go so far as to say that we 'simply do not care' about matters in the world outside of our monitors, the site staff request that you keep the latest news of a certain war or politicians or current events off the board. We also do not wish to see discussions on religion, politics, or anything along those lines on the board.
  
• There are many differences in the lore of werewolves, vampires, witches, angels, demons, etc., and we have settled on a specific set to use on this site. Please familiarize yourself with these boundaries so as to keep potential misunderstandings to a minimum.
  
• As for signatures - we are not overly concerned with such a thing because we have implemented a code that will keep signatures from stretching the board. However, if we find that you are displaying inappropriate content in your signature, we will remove it immediately and warn, suspend, or ban you with or without notice, depending on the severity of the violation.
  
• These are the rules. We may or may not change them in the future. We may or may not tell you about it.

TURNING - HUMANS TO WEREWOLVES/VAMPIRES

Hey guys. It came to my attention that we didn't really address the issue of wanting to turn humans into werewolves or vampires. We're not trying to keep you from doing that - no, far from it, we encourage it! There are several instances in the game where it would be appropriate for weres and vamps to turn humans - willing or not - towards their cause.

However, there are a few things we would like you to keep in mind. They're really straight forward, promise. :)

1. First, make sure you have your information correct. (We know there are vague areas in some of those threads, if you have a question, don't be afraid to ask in the Q&A Department or PM one of the staff members.) We're basing DG off of many things, so it's easy to get confused as to where we've drawn our lines.
2. Organize it. Want your human to be turned, but can't find someone who can do it in your schedule or the way you would like it to be done? Let us know. (We should have a thread up soon.)
3. We want to know about the thread in advance. We're not going to stop you or anything; we're curious souls and like to keep track of these things. ;) Also, this will be nice for a potential help, in any way you might need.
4. We will also have a thread where we would like you to post, indicating that your character is in need of a member group change.
5. I think that's it. We'll be sure to let you know if anything changes.
