sin & sundown.
It's the fear of the dark
It's growing inside of me
They won they will come alive
There is no escape
'Cause my faith is horror and doom
»» the year is twenty forty-five;;
- A quiet overlooked war has begun to rise from the ashes. There have always been monsters in the world, not just the old ones, the demons with their grotesque faces and gnashing teeth, no. Humans are just as monstrous as those that have taken to feasting on them, though they have never been able to come to terms or even acknowledge the fact. They enslave anyone who is different them, fear the unknown, barely taking the time to understand what it is they're fighting. Justice, they call it. As if killing those with an ugly face is fair. Murdering those with child, fearing the abominations growing in their womb has just seemed right, if not poignant to them.
»» totalitarian governments thrive on ignorance;;
- Governments around the world have lent their arms to the fight against what they call 'the infected.' They rush to seize those vampires and lycans before their disease is spread, culling the threat. They hide the truth from the public, saying it's an epidemic of disease, like the plague. When someone's family has to be taken, they lie and say it was for their own good, they'll be back home as good as new. England has been one of the top contributors in seeing that the lycan and vampire population is put in their place. They have spent millions of dollars in research on the best ways to exterminate these powerful creatures as well as to learn how to harness their abilities and learn to better control them. The public, while not exposed to the inhumane treatment know and respect what their government is doing. It's all for their safety after all. Lycans and Vampires alike being tagged like rabid dogs seems to be the right way to go. The disappearances and murder of their neighbors covered up with lies and secrecy. Ignorance, as they say, is bliss. A panic would do no one any good, and as that is what people nearly always do, it is for their safety to keep the other half of the population under wraps.
»» the deadly shop is hellbent on killing anything that threatens them, human and beast alike;;
- In order to fight the much more powerful lycan and vampire races, the humans have not only the sun on their side, but superior numbers. The British Government has recently indulged a new organization of people who have taken to devoting their time in the 'management' of these dark creatures. Not only have they taken extreme measures in weapons research, but they are also experimenting on them. Testing lycan weaknesses, seeing just how much silver a wolf can endure. Can they be controlled? The moon harnessed in order to force them under human will? In some areas they have succeeded, able to poke at a vampire's dead brain enough in order to place tiny chips inside to make the creature docile, almost like an obedient zombie. This department has taken to calling itself 'The Shop'. In addition to research staff, the Shop also employs armed agents who typically work undercover and pursue their goals with an utter disregard for morality. They hunt and research the things that go bump in the night, they like to think they're the things that bump back.
»» it is not only human prejudice that started the terror;;
- Vampire and lycan involvement is not innocent. They and their ancestors have brought this prejudicial vengeance upon themselves with their unsatisfied gorging throughout the years. They have fought religiously against each other and the results have not gone unnoticed. Now they have reached a truce, that while it is only reluctantly followed, they have bigger problems to deal with than just each other. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Their pact, while it walks on very thin ice, will probably be the only way their races will survive. At the same time, the creatures must be discreet, they must find a way to reach an understanding with the humans. After all, humans can most certainly live without them, but they cannot survive without a food source.
»» the mayhem has only just begun;;
- Vampires have begun to feed even more vigorously. The lycan packs have decided to abuse their transformations, killing and turning as many as they can. Civilians are being told that anything they see out of the ordinary is a side-affect of the disease. Many of them don't understand it and merely does what their good government tells them. There are those who have come to think that not all of the lycans and vampires are as awful as they are told, they were all once human after all, but it is incredibly difficult to tell friend from foe in these times. Usually it is best to simply be out for oneself, but again the war won't end if there isn't an agreement reached. At the rate everything is going, that truce won't be met for years to come. There are only ideals now, but absolutely no black and white. Greyness and bleak confusion seems to reign supreme. The sin starts when the sun goes down.
